Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution is an updated release of Virtua Fighter 4 for PlayStation 2, built from the arcade revision of the same name. It adds two fighters to the roster: Goh Hinogami, who focuses on judo throws, and Brad Burns, a Muay Thai fighter with stance shifting. Existing characters receive adjusted and expanded move lists, and several stages are reworked. Quest mode is the main solo draw, sending your created player through a circuit of virtual arcades to face AI opponents modelled on human players, earning ranks, money and items along the way. The extensive training and command modes return, covering everything from basic inputs to advanced defensive techniques. Core play is unchanged three-button Virtua Fighter: punch, kick and guard, with throws, counters and ring-outs deciding rounds.
