Virtua Tennis 3 on PSP is a handheld version of Sega's arcade tennis series. Matches use the familiar two-button system, with shot type chosen by button and depth and direction controlled by timing and stick movement. You can play quick singles or doubles exhibition matches or work through a career mode, travelling between tournaments, building your ranking and training between events. Training takes the form of minigames that exaggerate tennis skills into short arcade challenges. Licensed professional players from the men's and women's tours appear as selectable characters, and created players can be developed over the course of a career. Ad hoc wireless play lets two PSP owners face each other. Court surfaces vary, affecting ball speed and bounce during rallies.
