VR Sports Powerboat Racing is a boat racing game for the PlayStation. You pilot a powerboat around closed water courses, competing against a field of rival racers over several laps. Because the racing surface is water rather than tarmac, handling emphasises wake, wave motion and wide sliding turns, and boats become airborne over swells and ramps before slamming back down. Courses are set in a variety of locations with buoys, markers and obstacles marking the route, and collisions with scenery or other boats cost you speed and position. Finishing well unlocks further content, and there are practice and time-based options alongside standard races. A split-screen mode allows two players to race each other on the same console. Presentation uses a chase camera with alternative viewpoints available.
