Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat is a real-time tactics game set in the Warhammer Fantasy world. You control regiments rather than individual soldiers, ordering blocks of infantry, cavalry, missile troops and war machines around 3D battlefields where facing, terrain and morale all affect the outcome. There is no base building; instead you fight a linked campaign as a mercenary company, choosing contracts and spending the money you earn on reinforcements and new units between engagements. Regiments that survive gain experience, and units wiped out are gone for good, which encourages careful use of your line. The story centres on the threat of the ratmen Skaven, with orcs and other enemies appearing along the way. The PlayStation release adapts the controls and interface for a gamepad.
