WCW Nitro is a wrestling game for the PlayStation tied to World Championship Wrestling's television product. It uses polygonal arenas with digitized-looking wrestler models and an arcade-leaning control setup, where strikes, grapples and signature moves are performed with simple button and direction combinations rather than a deep reversal system. You pick from a roster of WCW competitors and compete in exhibition bouts and tournament-style ladders that work toward title matches, with additional wrestlers unlocked through play. Entrance sequences and commentary-style presentation are used to echo the broadcast. Matches support one player against the computer or head-to-head play, and several match types with more than two wrestlers in the ring are available.
