Whiteout is a snowmobile racing game for the PlayStation 2. You compete on snow-covered courses, handling jumps, drifts and rough terrain while trying to hold a racing line on a surface with limited grip. A career structure lets you race through events and work on your machine, with racers and sleds to choose between as you progress. Handling emphasises weight and momentum, so landings and cornering matter as much as raw speed. Alongside the single-player events there is multiplayer racing for playing against someone on the same console. Environments are built around winter settings, with snow, ice and outdoor scenery framing the tracks. It sits in the arcade-leaning end of off-road racing rather than aiming for simulation.
