Wild Arms 3 is a turn-based role-playing game set on Filgaia, a drying world where fantasy elements sit alongside a Western frontier setting of deserts, trains and gunfighters. You follow four drifters — Virginia, Jet, Clive and Gallows — whose separate opening chapters converge into one party. Battles are menu-driven and turn-based, with characters using firearms known as ARMs alongside magic and special skills. Outside of combat, each character carries tools used to solve environmental puzzles in dungeons, such as moving blocks or reaching distant switches. Locations on the world map are not simply listed for you: you use a search function to uncover towns and dungeons from rumours and coordinates. Presentation uses cel-shaded 3D character models, and the soundtrack leans heavily on whistling and guitar in keeping with the Western theme.
