WinBack 2: Project Poseidon is a third-person shooter for PlayStation 2 that continues the cover-based combat of the original WinBack. You press against walls and crates, lean out to fire, and use a laser sight to line up shots while enemy soldiers do the same from their own cover. The campaign follows a counter-terrorism unit and lets you take control of more than one operative, with missions that branch depending on outcomes, so the path through the story can vary between playthroughs. Levels move through military and industrial environments, mixing firefights with objectives such as disarming devices and reaching checkpoints. Alongside the main campaign there are additional modes for multiplayer play. Weapons are standard military fare, from pistols and assault rifles to explosives.
