Wipeout 3 is an anti-gravity racing game for the original PlayStation. You pilot a hovering craft for one of several racing teams around futuristic circuits, using air brakes to hold tight lines and picking up weapons, mines, shields and speed boosts scattered along the track. Ships differ in speed, handling and shielding, and damage taken from weapons or wall impacts drains your energy until you are eliminated. Single races, time trials and championship events make up the structure, with faster speed classes unlocked through good results. The game is notable for its very clean, minimal interface and signage designed in a graphic-design style, and for a soundtrack of licensed electronic and dance tracks. Split-screen play lets two people race on one console.
