Wipeout is a futuristic anti-gravity racer for the original PlayStation. You pilot a hovering craft representing one of several racing teams around twisting circuits filled with drops, tunnels and tight banked corners, using air brakes to hold your line at speed. Pickups along the track supply weapons such as missiles, mines and rockets, along with turbo boosts and shield repairs, so races mix precise driving with combat. Each team's ship has its own balance of speed, handling and durability. Modes include single races, championship series and time trials, with new circuits and faster speed classes unlocking as you place well. The game is known for its stark graphic-design-led menus and interface and for a soundtrack built around electronic and dance music.
