WRC: World Rally Championship on PlayStation Portable is a handheld take on licensed rally racing. Rather than pack racing, you tackle special stages one car at a time, running against the clock through timed routes while a co-driver reads pace notes for upcoming corners and hazards. Stages cover a range of surfaces including tarmac, gravel and looser dirt, and the car's grip and braking distances change accordingly. A championship structure lets you contest a season, while shorter single-stage and time trial options suit portable play sessions. Car damage and handling model the demands of rally driving, so smooth inputs and reading the notes matter more than holding the throttle down. Controls are mapped to the PSP's analog nub and face buttons, with adjustable assists available in the options.
