X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse on PlayStation Portable is a handheld version of the action role-playing game. You take a team of four characters into each level, switching between them as you play and mixing melee attacks with mutant powers that consume an energy meter. The roster brings X-Men and members of Magneto's Brotherhood together against Apocalypse. Characters gain experience, level up and earn skill points to strengthen their abilities, and equipment can be assigned to adjust their stats. Hub areas between missions allow you to change your team, review objectives and prepare for the next stage. The story is delivered through cutscenes and dialogue. The PSP release supports wireless multiplayer, letting several players work through the game as a group with each controlling one member of the team.
