X-Men Legends is an action role-playing game for the PlayStation 2. You control a team of four X-Men at a time, switching between them freely as you move through levels, and each mutant has a set of powers that consume energy and can be upgraded as they gain experience. Combat mixes basic melee attacks with special abilities, and characters can be equipped with items that adjust their stats. Between missions you return to the X-Mansion, where you can talk to characters, change your team, spend skill points and take on training exercises. The story follows the X-Men through a series of story missions with cutscenes and voiced dialogue. Multiple players can join in on the same screen, each taking control of one member of the active team.
