X-Men: Mutant Academy 2 is a one-on-one fighting game for the original PlayStation and a sequel to the first Mutant Academy. Fighters are 3D models on enclosed stages, and matches are decided over rounds by emptying the opponent's health bar. Each character has punches, kicks, throws and special moves drawn from their comic book powers, plus stronger meter-based attacks. The roster expands on the previous game with additional X-Men and villains. Modes include an arcade ladder against the CPU, two-player versus matches, survival and practice, along with unlockable costumes and extras earned through play. Move lists are kept accessible, with special inputs built around simple directional and button combinations. It is a straightforward Marvel-themed fighter suited to short sessions or head-to-head matches with a second player.
