The second entry in the Xenosaga series continues the science fiction story of Shion Uzuki and the combat android KOS-MOS as the conflict surrounding the Zohar and the Gnosis deepens. It is a turn-based role-playing game presented with lengthy cinematic cutscenes and heavy story emphasis, told across a mix of space stations, planets and interior environments. Battles revolve around chaining attacks to break an enemy's guard, with characters using different attack types to expose weaknesses before larger follow-up strikes land. Party members can also pilot mechs, which fight with their own abilities and fuel limits. Between chapters you explore towns and dungeons, solve light puzzles and take on optional side content. Character designs and presentation differ noticeably from the previous Xenosaga game, though the plot follows directly on from it.
