Ys Seven is an action RPG in which Adol Christin and Dogi arrive in the land of Altago and become caught up in events surrounding the region's dragons. Rather than controlling a lone hero, you assemble a party of three characters and switch between them freely in combat, with the other two fighting alongside you under AI control. Each character uses one of three attack types, and enemies are weak to particular types, so swapping members mid-fight matters. Characters learn special skills tied to their weapons and can unleash more powerful attacks as a gauge fills. You explore towns, fields and dungeons, gather materials for crafting and upgrades, and face large boss encounters. The PSP release includes a soundtrack in the series' rock-oriented style.
