Ys: The Oath in Felghana is a rebuilt version of the Ys III story, moving it from side-scrolling action to an overhead 3D presentation. Adol Christin and Dogi return to Dogi's hometown in the Felghana region, where mining, monsters and old friends including Chester and Elena figure into the plot. Combat is fast real-time action: you slash, jump, dash and use magic tied to elemental powers Adol acquires, with a boost gauge for stronger attacks. Weapons, armor and accessories can be upgraded with materials collected along the way, and dungeons mix combat with platforming and simple puzzles. Boss fights are lengthy pattern-based encounters with multiple phases. The PSP version includes voiced scenes and an arranged rock soundtrack, plus selectable difficulty levels.
