Forbidden Memories tells a story split between ancient Egypt and the modern day, with a prince who duels using monster cards and later crosses paths with the Yu-Gi-Oh cast. The dueling rules are a simplified variant of the trading card game: monsters have attack and defense values along with types and guardian star attributes that determine advantages in combat, and fusing two or more cards together to create stronger monsters is central to play. You earn new cards by defeating opponents, with results depending on how you win. Story duels are strung together with cutscenes, and a free duel mode lets you battle characters you have already met. Card fusions are largely undocumented in game, so learning which combinations work is part of building a deck.
