The PSP version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is an overhead action role-playing game in which you lead a squad of four Marvel characters, controlling one at a time and switching between them freely. The story draws on Marvel's Civil War material and has you choose a side partway through, which changes who joins your team. Combat combines melee attacks with special powers drawn from an energy meter, and fusion moves let two characters combine abilities for a larger attack. Experience earned in missions is spent upgrading powers and abilities, and you can rearrange your roster between stages. Levels are punctuated by boss fights against Marvel villains. The handheld release supports co-operative play with another player over a wireless connection.
