Millipede is a fixed-shooter conversion of the Atari arcade game, following on from Centipede. You control a blaster confined to a small area at the bottom of the screen, firing upward at a segmented millipede that winds its way down through a field of mushrooms. Shooting a middle segment splits the creature into separate pieces that keep descending, so each wave becomes more chaotic the longer it runs. Other insects complicate matters: some poison mushrooms, some drift across your firing lane, and mushrooms themselves block shots until destroyed. Clearing certain targets and reaching score thresholds can wipe the screen or restore parts of the mushroom field. Play continues through increasingly fast waves until you lose your lives, with scoring as the main goal.
