Monster Hunter Freedom 2 continues the series on PSP, giving you a new village base from which to accept quests. You hunt large monsters across zoned maps, studying their behaviour and openings, then carve parts from the ones you defeat and gather resources from the environment. Those materials feed into forging and upgrading weapons and armour, which is how you build up to harder hunts. The weapon roster covers close-range options such as great swords, hammers, lances and dual blades along with bowguns and bows, each with distinct animations and commitment on every swing. Village life includes farming, item combining, meal preparation and managing your supplies before a quest. Hunts can be tackled alone or co-operatively with other players over local ad hoc wireless, with quest difficulty scaling up as you progress through the ranks.
