Celebrity Deathmatch adapts the MTV claymation series into a 3D arena fighter for Xbox. You pick from a roster of clay celebrity caricatures and fight one-on-one bouts using strikes, grapples, weapons scattered around the ring and environmental hazards. Damage is played for exaggerated slapstick gore, with over-the-top finishing moves that tear opponents apart in the style of the show. Ringside commentary and announcements frame each fight the way they do on television. Modes include single matches and a run of consecutive bouts against a series of opponents, plus head-to-head play for two people on one console. The tone is crude comedy first, with simple, accessible controls rather than the deep move lists of a traditional fighting game.
