NASCAR Thunder 2002 is an EA Sports stock car racing game on the original PlayStation. You race licensed NASCAR drivers, teams and tracks, either in one-off events or across a full season, with a career structure that carries your results forward from race to race. Handling sits between arcade and simulation: you can dial in assists, adjust race length and tune setup and pit strategy depending on how deep you want to go. Drafting and traffic management matter on the ovals, and contact leaves damage that affects how the car drives. The PlayStation version is a scaled-back build compared to the newer consoles of the time, running at lower detail with smaller fields on screen. Split-screen play is available for racing against a second player.
