Omega Boost is a mech shooter in which you pilot an armed robot through combat encounters set in open 3D space. You fly freely in all directions, using boosts and strafing to circle enemies while a lock-on system lets you target multiple foes at once and fire homing shots, backed by a rapid-fire main weapon. Stages are structured as set-piece battles against waves of enemy machines, large mobile fortresses and bosses, with time and objectives pushing you forward rather than open exploration. The camera sits behind your mech, and much of the challenge lies in tracking targets that circle behind you. Stages are linked by story sequences involving time travel and a machine intelligence, presented with pre-rendered cutscenes and animated segments in the style of late-1990s PlayStation productions.
