PGA Tour 97 is an entry in EA Sports' long-running golf series, bringing licensed PGA Tour golf to PlayStation. You play full rounds of stroke play on real-world courses, using a swing meter to set backswing and power, then timing your shot for accuracy. Club selection, aiming, shot shape and reading the green are all handled before you swing, and wind and lie affect where the ball ends up. Real tour professionals appear as playable golfers and opponents, and the game supports both single rounds and tournament play against the field. Presentation follows the EA Sports template of the era, with television-style camera angles, on-screen course overviews and commentary between shots. Multiple players can compete by taking turns on the same console.
