Puggsy is a puzzle-platformer starring a small alien whose spaceship is taken by raccoons, leaving him to work his way across a series of themed worlds to recover it. Rather than relying on standard platform abilities, the game is built around picking up and using the objects scattered through each stage: crates, balls, tools, hats and other items can be carried, stacked, thrown and combined to reach high ledges, weigh down switches, deal with enemies or protect yourself. Objects behave according to physical properties like weight and buoyancy, so many obstacles have more than one workable solution and experimenting is part of progressing. Levels are single-screen or short scrolling areas grouped into worlds with different settings. The Sega CD release features CD audio and cartoon-styled visuals.
