Rascal is a 3D platformer for the PlayStation. You control a boy who travels through different historical settings by way of a time machine, exploring levels from a third-person camera as you jump across platforms, fight enemies and search for items needed to progress. Each area has its own theme and hazards, and much of the play involves working out routes through the environment, using ranged attacks against opponents, and locating switches and objects that open the way forward. Like many early 3D platformers, it uses a fixed number of lives and continues rather than free saving mid-level, so learning the layout of an area matters. Movement and camera control use the PlayStation pad's directional buttons or analog sticks.
