Scrabble on the PlayStation is a video adaptation of the crossword board game. You place letter tiles from your rack onto the grid to form words, scoring based on letter values and the premium squares under the tiles you lay, with rules for exchanging tiles and passing handled automatically. The game checks words against a built-in dictionary, tallies scores and tracks turns for you. You can play against computer opponents or share a controller with other players in the same room, and the computer can be set to different levels of ability. Menus and on-screen prompts handle rack management, shuffling and word placement with the pad. It is a direct translation of the tabletop game rather than a reinvention of it.
