Syberia is a point-and-click adventure game, presented on Xbox with pre-rendered backgrounds and a 3D character model. You play as Kate Walker, an American lawyer sent to a small Alpine village to close the sale of an old automaton factory, only to find the owner has died and a long-lost heir may still be alive. Following that trail takes you across Europe by a clockwork train, through towns, a university and other locations, each filled with intricate machinery. Gameplay centers on exploring environments, talking to characters, collecting objects and solving mechanical puzzles that usually involve getting some elaborate device working again. Kate's mobile phone rings throughout with calls from her life back home, threading a personal story through the journey. The pace is slow and atmospheric, with an emphasis on setting and dialogue.
