ToeJam and Earl 3 moves the funk-themed series into 3D on the original Xbox. You play as one of the alien characters exploring open levels from behind the character, searching for the scattered albums of funk while dealing with earthlings who get in your way. Presents return as the core item system, with unknown contents that can help or hinder until you learn what each one does. Rather than simply avoiding enemies, you can use funk-powered attacks to deal with them, and hidden areas and bonus rooms reward thorough exploration. Levels are entered through portals and vary in layout and hazards. A cooperative mode lets a second player join in, and the soundtrack leans heavily on funk in keeping with the series' style.
