The Xbox release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 delivers the series' combo-based skateboarding, where ollies, grinds, manuals, lip tricks and reverts chain together to build score multipliers. The career mode starts you in free skate within each level, and goals are handed out by characters you find around the environment instead of being tied to a two-minute run. Challenges include point targets, letter and item collection, timed objectives and tasks set by professional skaters. You can play as Tony Hawk and other licensed pros or create your own skater, upgrading stats and unlocking tricks and gear along the way. Create-a-park tools let you build custom skating areas, and split-screen multiplayer modes are supported. Levels are sizeable open spaces designed around finding gaps, transfers and long uninterrupted lines.
