UFC Tapout 2 is a mixed martial arts fighting game for the original Xbox and a follow-up to the first Tapout. Bouts take place in the octagon and blend striking, clinch work and ground grappling: you trade punches, kicks and knees standing, shoot for takedowns, then fight for position on the mat and look for submissions or ground-and-pound. Submissions and escapes are resolved through timed inputs, so the ground game is a constant back-and-forth struggle. The game includes UFC fighters across weight classes, a create-a-fighter option and a career mode in which you train between fights to raise attributes and learn techniques. Fights end by knockout, submission or decision, and two players can compete locally on the same console.
