UFC Tapout is a mixed martial arts fighting game for the original Xbox. Fights are staged in the octagon and follow real MMA structure, mixing stand-up striking with clinch fighting and ground grappling. You throw punches, kicks and knees, defend against takedowns, and once the fight hits the canvas you transition between positions, work for a dominant spot and attempt submissions or ground strikes. Fights can end by knockout, technical knockout, submission or judges' decision. Alongside the roster of UFC fighters across weight classes, there is a create-a-fighter option and a career path where you train attributes and skills between bouts to build a competitor. Two players can face off locally. The pace is slower and more positional than a traditional arcade fighter.
