Vietcong: Purple Haze is a first-person shooter set during the Vietnam War, brought to consoles from the PC Vietcong series. You fight as part of a small squad based out of a camp, heading out on missions through jungle trails, villages, and underground tunnel networks. Combat emphasizes spotting hidden enemies in heavy vegetation, coping with ambushes, and watching for traps rather than long-range open engagements. Your squadmates have defined roles, including a point man who leads you through unfamiliar terrain and a medic who treats wounds, and you can give them simple commands during a mission. Tunnel sections are played in cramped, dark spaces with a sidearm. The game also includes multiplayer modes alongside the single-player campaign.
