Whacked is a multiplayer arena game for the Xbox built around a fictional television game show. Contestants are dropped into enclosed stages and fight each other with a rotating supply of weapons and power-ups, scoring points for kills and for surviving the hazards built into each set. Between the violence, a manic host comments on the action, keeping up the game-show framing. Play is viewed from behind your character, with an emphasis on grabbing items quickly and using the layout of each arena to your advantage. You can compete against friends locally or take on computer-controlled contestants, and the roster is made up of exaggerated cartoon personalities. Matches are short and score-driven rather than story-based, so it is aimed squarely at group play.
