X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse is an action role-playing game on the original Xbox. Following on from the first X-Men Legends, it puts the X-Men and Magneto's Brotherhood on the same side, so the playable line-up mixes heroes and former enemies. You control a squad of four at a time, switching between them freely and combining melee attacks with energy-draining mutant powers. Defeated enemies yield experience that leads to level ups and skill points, and found equipment can be assigned to individual characters. Between missions, hub areas let you change your team, shop, check objectives and use training rooms. The story is told through cutscenes and voiced dialogue as the group works to stop Apocalypse. Multiple players can share a single screen, each taking one of the four active characters.
