Grand Theft Auto 2 on Game Boy Color adapts the top-down crime series to handheld hardware. You play a criminal for hire working in a city split into districts, taking on jobs from payphones and answering to rival gangs. Working for one gang tends to lower your standing with another, so choosing which jobs to accept shapes who will deal with you and who will come after you. Vehicles are stolen straight off the street and driven through an overhead-view city, with police and rival gunmen reacting to the trouble you cause. Missions involve deliveries, thefts, hits and escapes, and money earned goes toward the target you need to reach before moving on. The scale is reduced to suit the platform while keeping the pick-a-car, take-a-job structure intact.
