Micro Machines V3 on Game Boy Color brings the toy-vehicle racing series to Nintendo's handheld. Racing is viewed from overhead, with miniature cars, trucks and other vehicles competing on courses laid out across everyday environments, so tables, floors and garden settings serve as the circuits and ordinary objects become hazards and barriers. Tracks are compact, and the camera keeps the field in view, which puts pressure on you to stay with the leaders and avoid tumbling off the edges. Handling is arcade-oriented and straightforward, built around tight turns, jumps and short bursts of racing rather than detailed simulation. The scaled-down handheld version keeps the series' core structure of themed vehicles and household tracks in a format suited to short sessions.
