Pokemon Puzzle Challenge is a falling-block puzzle game for Game Boy Color in the Panel de Pon style. Coloured blocks rise from the bottom of the playfield and you swap them horizontally in pairs to line up three or more of a colour, clearing them and dropping what sits above. Well-planned clears trigger chains and combos, which send garbage blocks to an opponent in versus play. If your stack reaches the top of the screen, the round ends. Modes include a single-player run against Pokemon trainers from the Johto games, endless play, a timed mode, set puzzles with a fixed number of moves, and two-player matches over a link cable. Pokemon accompany each opponent and react as the match swings.
