Wario Land 3 is a platform game for Game Boy Color in which Wario is pulled into a world contained within a music box. Wario cannot be killed, so enemies and hazards instead knock him around or transform him: fire sets him ablaze so he runs uncontrollably, a zombie bite lets him sink through certain floors, and other effects change his size or shape. Each transformation is a tool, and much of the game is about deliberately taking a hit to reach an area you otherwise could not. Every level hides multiple treasures, and finding them unlocks new abilities or alters the world, opening previously blocked routes in stages you have already visited. Levels can be switched between day and night, changing enemy placement and access. The structure rewards revisiting maps as Wario's moveset grows.
