X-Men on the Sega Genesis is a side-scrolling action game built around Marvel's mutant team. You select from a group of playable X-Men, including Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Gambit, each with their own attack style and a mutant power used sparingly. Levels are framed as Danger Room simulations, with platforming, environmental hazards and enemies drawn from the comics. You can call in other team members for a brief assist attack, and stages generally task you with reaching an objective or defeating a boss. The difficulty is high, with tight jumps, damage from spikes and machinery, and limited continues. The game is known for a sequence that asks you to reset the console as an in-fiction action to reboot the computer system.
