Prince of Persia: Arabian Nights is the Dreamcast release of the series' move into 3D. You control the prince from a third-person view, exploring palace halls, dungeons, caverns and outdoor ramparts made up of ledges, gaps, moving platforms and mechanical traps. Platforming carries over the series' emphasis on judged jumps, hanging from edges and climbing, while combat is fought with a sword and other weapons against guards and other enemies, using blocks and attacks at close range. Puzzles involve switches, doors and machinery that alter the route through an area, and health is topped up by potions. The camera can be adjusted as you move, and the game is structured as a sequence of large levels connected by story sequences following the prince's quest. Controller support includes the Dreamcast's standard pad.
