Arch Rivals is a two-on-two basketball game brought over from the arcades, and its main twist is that fouls simply do not exist. You can shove and punch opposing players to knock them down and take the ball, and loose elbows are as much a part of the offense as shooting and passing. Matches are played on a single screen with a small roster of players who differ in size, speed and shooting ability, so picking a teammate matters as much as who you cover on defense. The controls are kept simple, with buttons for shooting, passing and throwing punches. You can play through games against the computer or take on a second player, and the short, arcade-paced matches make it easy to jump in for a quick session on the Genesis.
