Galaxy Force II is a rail shooter presented from behind your fighter craft as the screen scrolls into the distance. You bank left and right, climb and dive to avoid terrain and enemy fire, shooting with a standard cannon and a lock-on that lets you sweep a target reticle across multiple enemies before releasing a volley. Levels carry you over alien landscapes, through canyons and into tight interior tunnels where obstacles leave only small openings, ending with a confrontation deeper inside the enemy stronghold. A single energy gauge covers both your ship's condition and your remaining flight time, so it drains steadily and drops sharply when you crash or get hit, pushing you to keep moving. The Genesis version is single-player and uses sprite scaling to convey speed.
