Ex-Mutants is a side-scrolling action game for the Sega Genesis, based on the comic series of the same name. It takes place in a ruined, post-apocalyptic world overrun by mutated creatures, and you fight through stages populated by enemies that attack in waves and from above. You choose between two playable heroes, each handling melee combat and pickups as you move left to right through hostile environments. Progress depends on learning enemy attack patterns, timing your swings, and managing your health across long stretches between checkpoints. Levels mix platforming across gaps and hazards with straightforward brawling, and boss encounters cap off sections. Controls are simple, with attack and jump handling most of the moment-to-moment play. A password system lets you return to later areas.
