HardBall III is a baseball game for the Sega Genesis and part of the long-running HardBall series. It takes a simulation-minded approach to the sport, with pitching, batting and fielding handled from behind-the-plate and field views, and menus for lineups, pitching changes and other managerial decisions. You can play single games against the computer or another player, or work through longer play with statistics tracked as you go. Pitch selection and placement matter on the mound, while batting asks you to time your swing and aim your contact. Presentation includes stadium crowds and a scoreboard-style interface. Compared with more arcade-flavoured baseball titles on the system, it puts more weight on strategy and record-keeping, though the pace of a single game remains brisk.
