Techno Cop casts you as a futuristic law enforcement officer working through a city overrun by criminals. Play alternates between two styles. In the driving sections you steer your car through streets from behind the vehicle, racing to reach your destination and ramming other cars along the way. Once you arrive, the game switches to a side-view perspective as you move through the floors of a building on foot, opening doors, taking on armed enemies and searching for your target. Your weapon can be aimed at different heights, and enemies go down in graphic fashion. The two halves are tied together by a time limit, so lost seconds on the road cut into the time you have inside. The Genesis version uses digitized-looking sprites and a synth soundtrack.
