The Genesis version of the side-scrolling platformer in which Bart Simpson uncovers an alien invasion of Springfield. Each level tasks Bart with a specific goal tied to what the mutants need, beginning with spray-painting purple objects around town. You run and jump through Springfield locations, dodging hazards, collecting coins and buying items such as spray cans, cherry bombs and rockets from shops. Special glasses reveal which townspeople are actually disguised mutants. Levels close with boss encounters against familiar Simpsons characters, and other members of the family can be summoned for assistance once you have gathered the necessary items. Sprites and backgrounds are drawn in the show's style, and the game leans on precise platforming and item management rather than combat.
