ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron is a Sega Genesis follow-up that shifts the series to a side-scrolling format. The two aliens have returned to their home planet only to find that earthlings have hitched a ride, and your task is to track them down and trap them in jars. Levels are explored horizontally and vertically, with earthlings hiding in bushes, mailboxes and other scenery until you shake them loose. You throw jars to capture them and can use items found along the way to help. Hidden areas and side activities are scattered throughout, including funk-themed mini-games. Two players can play cooperatively on a shared screen, and the presentation keeps the funk soundtrack and humour of the original.
