Triple Play 96 is an EA Sports baseball game for the Sega Genesis. You play out games from a behind-the-plate pitching view that shifts to a field camera once the ball is hit, batting by timing your swing and pitching by selecting a pitch type and aiming its location. Fielding automatically assigns control to the closest player, and throws to each base are mapped to the controller buttons. Modes include single exhibition games, season play with tracked statistics and standings, and playoff competition, along with team and lineup management. Sprite-based players and animated crowds fill out the stadium presentation, backed by crowd noise and organ music. Two players can play against each other on one console, or you can take on the computer across a full schedule.
